Aledo High School's powerhouse football team returned under the Friday night lights after being in the glare of a bizarre bullying accusation. This time, the game aired on national television as they took on the 5-3 home team Southwest High School.
The bullying complaint came from an angry parent after a blowout 91-0 win last week against 0-8 Western Hills High School in Fort Worth. Coach Tom Buchanan was later cleared.
Aledo's superintendent wouldn't let Coach Buchanan give any more interviews. His fans showed support for him by wearing shirts that read "We Back Buc".
Coach Buchanan told FOX4 he did everything he could not to score on Western Hills last Friday but he wasn't going to ask his players to take a knee.
He pulled his starters early to let the second and third string play and even went to a running clock.
The district blowout raised questions about should Aledo play in Class 4A.
" Maybe they should be moved on to another district with someone that can play at their level," said Southwest High School parent Soraida Moreno.
Aledo, now 8-0, beat Southwest High School 59-13.
