It's been a rough week for Dallas police chief David Brown. He is trying to rebuild the community's trust after an officer shot a mentally ill man.
DPD's "Chief on the Beat" event allows officers and the community to hang out in a friendly environment, but this event was more important for the department as it works to gain back the public's trust.
Chief Brown told Fox 4 that this week without a doubt has been rough for not just himself but for his officers. While officers may be feeling the backlash, some say the questionable actions of one officer doesn't change their perception of the whole department.
Going forward Chief Brown says he wants to do more to engage the public and rebuild the department's credibility before another crisis erupts.
