Police search for motor home driver who caused deadly crash

Posted: Updated:
MARIETTA, Ga. -

Police are still searching for the driver of a motor home whom they say started a deadly chain-reaction crash on Interstate 75 southbound near Delk Road in Marietta on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Marietta Police Department tells FOX 5 News that around 1:45 p.m. Saturday, the driver of the motor home was attempting to change lanes behind a Toyota Camry, but ended up striking the left rear panel of the car instead.  They say the Camry slammed into a Toyota Prius, causing it to rollover several times. The Prius struck two other vehicles while it overturned.

Police say the passenger of the Prius, 40-year-old Bradley Braland of Winter Garden, Florida, was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene. Braland's wife was driving the Prius, and she was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries. Their 4-year-old boy was properly restrained in the backseat, and was uninjured in the crash.

The motor home is described as having a box front and was champagne, tan and greenish-blue in color. Police say it would have damage to the right front panel. The driver did not stop at the scene.

Anyone with further information about this incident or the motor home should contact the Officer Nick Serkedakis at the Marietta Police Department at 770-794-5266.
