The City of Richardson will implement modified Stage 3 Winter Water Restrictions Friday, November 1. The city cites a critical shortage in its water supply because of below average rainfall, declining water levels in reservoirs and restrictions on pumping water from Lake Texoma because of a zebra mussel infestation.
The new restrictions allow for twice-a-month watering based on the last digit of the homeowner's address. Seasonal landscape watering is limited to first and third Saturdays for addresses ending in an even number and first and third Sundays for those ending in an odd number.
Soaker hoses and drip irrigation systems can continue to be used for foundations and trees as needed. Hand watering of ornamental flower beds and landscaping is allowed. Hand watering of lawns is not. Washing of cars, boats and trailers is permitted. Newly constructed pools and spas may be filled, drained and refilled for repairs.
