Halloween safety for pets

Halloween night is fun for children and families but can be very frightening and dangerous for our pets.  Here are some tips to make sure you don't spook your pet this Halloween.

Pet your pet in a safe place while passing out treats

Dogs and cats can be frightened of costumes and noises and may take the opportunity to flee by running out the door or gate.

Keep your dog away from the candy bowl

Dark chocolate in particular can be toxic to dogs and can cause illness. Put your candy in a place where your dog can't reach it. Should your dog eat chocolate, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Shelters and veterinarians see many animals following Halloween night. 

Should your dog or cat become lost, contact your local police department and shelter.
