Police in a suburban North Texas town are trying to find out who put a homemade bomb in a residential mailbox.
The explosive device was found Monday at a home near the intersection of Custer Road and Rhea Mills Drive, in far northeast Prosper. The homeowner got suspicious, put it outside and called police.
"The investigation is in the early stages, but we can report that while the device appeared to have some potency, there were no injuries of any kind. The device was rendered inert by experienced bomb handlers," said Officer Marty Nevil, a spokeswoman for the Prosper Police Department.
Police are still investigating. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the department at 972-347-2226.
