Man slain in Arlington dated suspect's girlfriend

Posted: Updated:

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a man found shot to death at a North Texas apartment complex was the ex-boyfriend of the suspect's girlfriend.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday listed the cause of death for Roderick Pass as multiple high-velocity gunshot wounds.

Joel Jonas White remains jailed on a murder charge.

An arrest warrant says Amanda Vanston awoke Monday in the Arlington apartment she shared with White and he said Pass was dead. Vanston told police she thought White was joking until they went on the balcony, she saw her ex-boyfriend's body in the parking lot and White allegedly fired more shots into the victim.

Vanston says White pointed a gun at her - saying they needed to leave - but she escaped unharmed.

White surrendered after a seven-hour standoff.
