Defense attorneys want to move the trial for the murders of the Kaufman County district attorney and his wife to a new venue.
The lawyers for suspect Eric Williams filed for a change of venue on Wednesday in an attempt to get the case out of Kaufman County. They said they cannot get a fair trial in the county due to heavy publicity.
Williams was a justice of the peace in Kaufman County. He is accused of murdering district attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia along with assistant district attorney Mark Hasse.
Kim Williams, Eric's wife who also faces charges, has not made a change of venue request.
Investigators believe Eric Williams murdered the three in retaliation over his past legal issues.
