Halloween storm goes down in the record books

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Halloween storm of 2013 will go down in the record books. It was the third wettest Halloween on record and only the third time 1 in. or more of rain had fallen on Halloween.

Chicago's official reporting station (O'Hare) received 1.04 in. of rain on Halloween and 1.59 in. between Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.

This is the second largest two-day rainfall total to close out October on record. The largest is 2.26 in. - which fell on Oct. 31, 1994.

Here's a list of the rainfall totals from Oct. 30-31:

  • Woodridge – 4.15 in.
  • Westmont – 3.75 in.
  • Bolingbrook – 3.70 in.
  • Midway – 3.33 in.
  • Romeoville – 2.69 in.
  • Valparaiso, IN – 2.43 in.
  • Aurora – 2.05 in.
  • O'Hare – 1.59 in.
  • DuPage – 1.58 in.
  • Rockford – 1.37 in.
  • Wheeling – 1.20 in.
  • Waukegan - .98 in.
