Dallas police shot and killed a man early Saturday morning after the man took a Taser from officers and pointed it at them.
Police spokesman Lt Midge Boyle says officers were called to the 1500 block of East Missouri Avenue on a disturbance. When officers arrived they found a man sitting on his front porch. Boyle says the officers tried to handcuff the man but he fought with them. One of the officers pulled his Taser but the suspect was able to take it and pointed it at police. Boyle says people who watched the incident told police the officers were ordering the man to drop the Taser. The suspect refused. Boyle says that's when the officer shot the suspect. The man died at the scene.
Police Chief David Brown says, "We are conducting a thorough investigation of this incident. Independent civilian witnesses indicate that the suspect attacked the officers, disarmed the officers of their Taser and attempted to tase the officers. We will update the public as soon as the investigation is complete."
The officers involved the incident have been placed in administrative leave. Lt. Boyle identifies the dead man as Salvador Munoz.
