DALLAS -

The murder trial for a Carrollton man, who confessed to FOX 4 News in the killing of a 16-year-old-girl, starts Monday.

Franklin Davis confessed on camera in a jailhouse interview that he killed Shania Gray, but that he didn't mean to.  He says he just snapped.

In July of 2011, Davis was arrested for Raping Shania at least four times while she babysat one of his kids.  Shania was supposed to testify in court against Davis but he got to her first.  Davis says he pretended he was someone else to gain her trust and one day showed up at her school.  Shania never made it home that night.  Davis says he took her to the Campion Trails in Irving and shot her twice.

After Davis was arrested, he managed to escape police custody in Early December, while he was at Parkland Hospital.  After a lengthy standoff, he finally surrendered.

Shania's family has been counting down the days till her accused killer's trial started.  They will be at the courthouse Monday morning when the trial begins.
