Study: The Stress Of Wedding Planning

Posted: Updated:

Think planning a wedding is stressful for the bride? It may take a bigger toll on the groom!

A study, conducted by British anti-anxiety drug Kalms, found that almost one in four grooms (23%) say that planning a wedding is the most stressful thing they've ever done. That figure compares to only about one in six brides (16%).

The study found the top factors that couples get stressed about when wedding planning.

  • The most challenging task is making the guest list
  • Second most stressful thing is staying on budget
  • Couples also worry about making friends/family happy
  • Overbearing family members were the next most stressed about item.
  • Finally, interfering mother-in-laws also create more chaos.

The study also examined the life events that stress people out the most. The event people are most likely to get stressed about is house moving. The second event is having a baby. Planning their big day comes in third, and changing jobs comes in fourth. Monetary needs consistently came up as a worry in all these life events.
