Students were evacuated from Farine Elementary School in Irving Wednesday morning because of a small fire.
Officials said an electrical problem with a vent hood cause the fire in one of the classrooms on the southwest side of the school.
Witnesses reported seeing smoke, but no flames. It was enough to set the sprinklers off, though.
More than 900 students were moved from the campus to a nearby church as a precaution.
"We're just asking parents to stay away until we see if we're going to be able to get back in the building today or not," said Irving ISD Interim Superintendent Weldon Hafley.
Parents will be updated throughout the day.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No one was hurt.
