FORT WORTH, Texas -

A woman is dead after a house fire in east Fort Worth.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Cannon Street, near Interstate 30 and Highway 287.

Firefighters fought the flames for about an hour.

After it was extinguished, they found the woman's body.

"It took about an hour because of the amount of fire and amount of damage to he structure for firefighters to locate the body," said Tim Hardeman with the Fort Worth Fire Department.

A man also lives at the home, but he was not there.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
