Multiple local fire departments didn't know about an ambulance recall until contacted by FOX4.
Ford issued a recall for a defective sensor in 2011-2012 F-350 and F-450's that could stop ambulance engines from working.
Departments in Garland and Mesquite said they are concerned a TV station informed them about an important recall, not Ford.
"We're talking six of our ten ambulances, so sixty percent of our fleet has to be repaired," said Capt. Kelly Turner of Mesquite-Fire Rescue.
Garland Fire-Rescue officials said five of its 11 ambulances need to be fixed.
"They all went in this morning to have the sensors replaced," said Merrill Balanciere of Garland Fire-Rescue.
Representatives from Ford told the departments written notices are scheduled to be sent out next week.
"You, Mr. Rabb, gave us a chance to get ahead of the curve by about a week," said Turner.
