DeSoto team honors paralyzed player with retired jersey

Posted: Updated:
DESOTO, Texas -

A Desoto Eagles football player paralyzed during a spring practice was the highlight of half-time Thursday night.

Four years ago, then-sophomore Corey Borner was paralyzed after making a tackle.

Since then, his coach says he's always supported the team, and can often be seen on the sidelines.

Thursday, the Eagles recognized Borner for his team spirit, by having his jersey, number 24, retired permanently.

Borner didn't know about the honor, and was shocked and grateful during the presentation.

After, the Eagles went on to win Thursday's game, bringing their season to 10-0.

The team heads to playoffs next week, with their number one fan - Borner - on the sidelines.
