A Kansas junior high school has suspended a boy for not removing his purse.
Skylar Davis said he began wearing the colorful bag over his shoulder at the beginning of the school year.
"It expresses myself and I think everyone else can wear it, so I wear it as well," the 13-year-old told KCTV5.
But an administrator at Anderson County Senior-Junior School recently told him to take it off. He was suspended when he refused.
Davis and his mother said they believe he was discriminated against because girls at the school are allowed to carry a purse.
"I don't think everyone should be treated differently," he told KCTV. "Everyone should have the same privileges," Davis told KCTV5.
The assistant principal told him the suspension would not be lifted until he stops carrying the purse. So far he has not given in.
