PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona's largest utility has renewed its previously expired membership with the American Legislative Exchange Council, a conservative public policy group that produces draft legislation.
The Arizona Capitol Times reports that APS in April 2012 announced it would allow its ALEC membership to expire that summer.
ALEC had been under fire from liberal groups but APS said at the time that its action was motivated by a desire to cut costs.
APS then renewed its membership last November.
Company spokesman Jim McDonald says APS is a politically active company that supports pro-business causes.
