(WJBK) -

It's been a deadly week in Detroit.

Nine people have been murdered since Monday, and another body was just found late Friday afternoon.

Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody joined Fox 2's Huel Perkins, Sherry Margolis and Alexis Wiley to discuss the toll these violent crimes have not only on the families and the community, but on the police as well.

He says it's been one of those weeks where "we all go home and we hug our families a little tighter."

He discusses how, despite the rise of crime in the past week, Detroit Police is seeing a positive turnaround. Official numbers show violent crime is down in the city, and another example is continuing decrease in response time from officers. He says police were on the scene of Wednesday night's barbershop shooting in just one minute; and police were on the scene of Friday morning's triple homicide in just four minutes.

In regards to ending the violence, Sgt. Woody urges the community, "Step up, speak up, and let's end this."

Three were killed and six others were injured in a shooting at Al's Barbershop on Seven Mile Wednesday night.  A person of interest is in federal custody. Three people were found shot to death inside an apartment early Friday morning. No arrests have been made yet in that cast.
