The Loop 202 is back open after it was shut down early Saturday following a fatal crash near 52nd Street and Priest Drive.
Department of Public Safety officials took the suspect, identified as Maikil Doud Schol, into custody and booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office 4th Avenue Jail for two counts of 2nd degree homicide.
Officer Carrick Cook stated, "The 29-year-old from Sudan is believed to be impaired by alcohol while he was driving westbound in the east lanes of State Route 202 when he hit a motorcycle head-on killing both riders."
The victims were identified as St. Johns residents Andy Chilimidos, 50 and Darlene Atencio, 45.
