A tight knit community mourns the loss of two teens

Posted: Updated:

Two North Texas teens are dead and two others injured after a crash on Collin County early Sunday morning.  The accident happened at highway 380 and County Road 407 in Princeton, east of McKinney at about 4 a.m.

Close to 300 people showed up to the Cowboy Church of Collin County Sunday evening to mourn the loss of Cody Hensley and Stephen Chaney, both 17.

Police say 7 teens ranging in age from 17 to 19 were riding in a small hatchback car when it left the road at Monte Carlo and Florence Drive in Princeton.

At the candle light vigil Sunday, friends talked about how much they'll miss Cody and Stephen and what they remember most about them.  They also said prayers for two others that were in the car that are still hospitalized, police say one of them is critical.

Senior Cody attended McKinney North. He played football and baseball in previous years, but was best known for his camo style. Students wore camo to class Monday to honor him.

Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash and investigators are trying to determine if alcohol was also a factor.  Standard procedure when investigating a crash like this is to do a blood draw on the driver.
