A former high school English teacher will be sentenced Tuesday for having sex with his students.
Police said 38-year-old Brandon McDaniel had sexual relationships with at least five female students at Sam Houston High School in Arlington between 2001 and 2012.
Several of the young women told police their relationships with McDaniel began as student-teacher relationships and over time turned into consensual sex.
Although some of the victims were 18 years old, in Texas it is a criminal offense for a teacher to have sex with a student at any age.
McDaniel pleaded guilty to four counts of an improper relationship between an educator and student, which involved three of the five students.
He now faces up to 20 years in prison for each count.
He resigned from his position at Sam Houston following his arrest.
