Fort Worth man wins lottery twice in less than 9 months

Posted: Updated:

One lucky Fort Worth man just got even luckier after winning the Texas Lottery for the second time in less than nine months, lottery officials say.

T.W. Smith went to the Texas Lottery claim center Wednesday to claim his $1 million prize from the new 20X Cash game, making him the first person to do so who's played that game. In February, Smith won $1,000 from a scratch-off.

Smith bought the winning ticket from the EZ Mart on E. Bardin Road in Arlington. As a result, that store is eligible for a $10,000 retailer bonus.

Despite Smith's lucky streak, he's still hopeful for another win, and says that while he prefers scratch-off tickets, there's no true secret to winning big.

"I just go with the new ones," Smith said. "Whenever a new game comes out, I'll try it."
