How to get more from your smart phone battery

After upgrading his iPhone to Apple's iOS 7 software, Duillem Guitierez noticed a problem: the battery didn't perform as well.

Battery drain is among the biggest complaints with the new software. So are there ways to conserve? We asked Jazmine Hupp, a spokesperson at consumer electronics specialist TekServe.

She says there are the obvious things: turning down brightness and clicking on WiFi. Then some specifics to iOS7 like scaling back apps that otherwise refresh constantly in the background.

Dialing down location tracking apps in services like Google maps and Twitter helps. And yes, even cold weather matters: it can sap the battery life.
