ATLANTA -

A firefighter fell through a floor while fighting an early Thursday morning fire at an abandoned home in northwest Atlanta.

Firefighters were called out to fire in an abandoned home on Joseph E. Boone Blvd. near Oliver Street around 1 a.m.

Fire officials say the firefighter was checking the upper level of the home when the floor gave way. The firefighter fell about 8 feet.

They say he was not injured and returned back to work.

Shortly before 2 a.m., firefighters were called out to a separate fire at an abandoned business on Bell Street in northeast Atlanta.

Fire officials say they found a woman out front of the building. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

It is unclear if she was linked to the fire.

Both fires remain under investigation.
