EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- The Super Bowl is less than three months away, and towns in New Jersey are concocting ways to lure fans and their cash.
Some estimates have the Super Bowl generating a half-billion dollars in economic activity for the region.
Much of the pre-game focus will be on New York City's Times Square, where a section of Broadway will be turned into a theme park featuring a toboggan slide.
Across the river, they're getting creative in their approach. Hackensack is considering building a snowboarding hill in its downtown. Montclair and Secaucus are planning carnival-like experiences featuring food, live music and games. In Hoboken, revelers can try their skill at curling.
There's a catch: None of the festivities can employ the words "Super Bowl," a name that is trademarked by the NFL.
