Lululemon statement on sheer pants brings renewed criticism

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -

There's more controversy for athletic clothing company Lululemon -- earlier this year, some of the workout pants were recalled because they were too sheer!

Now the company's co-founder, Chris Wilson, is apologizing for some remarks he made.

The popular workout clothing brand has become a sought after status symbol among women everywhere -- of every size and type.

But the recall did raise some questions about the use of a luon black fabric used to make a pair of the company's pants.  The material was too sheer in the upper thigh area.

Here's a statement made by Wilson in a television interview about the recall:

"Quite frankly, some women's bodies just don't work for it... It's really about the rubbing through the thighs, how much pressure is there over a period of time and how much they use it."

And now, an apology from Wilson posted on the company's Facebook page -- with hundreds of comments.

'I'm really sad for the repercussions of my actions.  I'm sad for the people at Lululemon who I care so much about that have had to face the brunt of my actions.  I take responsibility for all that has occurred," stated Wilson.

"Just knowing they don't target their brand to everyone.. it is upsetting, so I probably wouldn't purchase it from them," said Noelle Vedder.

There are five Lululemon Athletica locations in Arizona.
