Jury considering death penalty for teen's slaying

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

A Dallas County jury will continue deliberating the sentence of a man convicted of killing his 16-year-old babysitter on Saturday.

Earlier this week jurors found Franklin Davis guilty of capital murder for the 2012 death of Shania Gray. The jury began deliberations Friday morning, but were unable to reach a verdict by the end of the day.

Davis allegedly killed Gray to prevent her from testifying against him in a sexually assault case. He admitted to shooting her in an Irving park, but denied sexually assaulting her when she was 14.

Gray's mother testified Friday morning, saying Davis cost Shania her innocence, her life and her future.

Davis could get death or life in prison without parole.
