Police shoot suspect who allegedly tried to run over officer

Posted: Updated:

Mesquite police arrested a man they say tried to run over one of their officers.  It started when the suspect left the scene of a disturbance in the 2800 block of Eastbrook Dr and refused to pull over for officers.  The suspect abandoned his vehicle at the Camelot Village Apartments near U.S. Highway 80, continuing to run from officers.

Police say while in the apartment complex, the suspect forced a man out of a rental moving truck and drove away.  He allegedly drove the truck towards an officer, who fired his service weapon striking the suspect.

The suspect was able to drive for a short distance before he stopped and surrendered to officers.

He was transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas for treatment for his wounds.
