Girl Saves Mom From Choking

GRESHAM, OR -

A little girl performed the Heimlich maneuver on her mom after watching it in a movie.

Amira Fortin was kicking back relaxing in front of the TV, when she heard a strange noise her mom, Jennifer, was in the kitchen, choking on a piece of food.

So the 7-year-old jumped up to save the day performing the life-saving technique on her mom.

Amira says she knew what to do because her grandpa taught her and because of what she saw in the movie, "Mrs. Doubtfire"

"It was pretty scary because here was no one else here. And I couldn't talk, I couldn't I was just in shock," Jennifer said.

And for a while, as a reward, Amira has earned a little extra time in front of the TV - with her mom.

"It's amazing what they can learn on TV," Jennifer said.
