ARLINGTON -

Arlington Police have arrested one of their own for domestic violence.

Assistant Police Chief James Hawthorne was arrested at his home early Sunday morning.

He's the man pictured second from the right, wearing shorts.  The picture was taken just hours before Hawthorne's arrest at Arlington's first Domestic Violence Awareness Run on Saturday.

He has been with the Department since 1985 and serves in the Community Support Bureau.

Police Chief Wil Johnson issued a statement on Sunday saying "Domestic violence will not be tolerated or ignored in our community."
