Oldest living former sheriff in Texas dies

The man who had been Texas' oldest living former sheriff died Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the Ellis County Sheriff's Office.

Wayne McCollum of Waxahachie was the Sheriff of Ellis County for 20 years.

He had celebrated his 101st birthday in May.

A visitation for Wayne McCollum will take place Wednesday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie from 6 to 8 p.m.

A graveside funeral service will take place Thursday at Hillcrest Cemetery at 10 a.m.
