Mom fined for not including grain in sack lunch

Posted: Updated:

If you think the food police are bad here, be glad you don't live in Canada.

A woman in Manitoba was fined $10 for not providing a "balanced" meal.

Her two kids brought leftover roast beef, potatoes, carrots, milk and oranges to school for lunch, but an inspector found it lacked a grain.

The kids were given crackers and their mom was fined $5 for each packet.

Now that the story has gotten wide media exposure, she's speaking about Canada Food Guide, which she said ends favoring processed food over home cooked meals.
