New K-mart Ad Causes Controversy

Posted: Updated:

K-mart's new holiday commercial is causing quite the controversy. It is an ad for boxers and is airing on television right now.

The commercial is getting mixed reviews, and several angry customers have posted messages on K-Mart's Facebook page, threatening to stop shopping at the store.

For example, Gail Golden wrote:

I saw your new Jingle Bells commercial last night on TV and am disgusted as I find it very offensive. I always regarded Kmart as a family department store. Therefore, I am disappointed in your decision to air such a filthy commercial and saddened that your wholesome image has taken a downward turn.

However, K-Mart says they have no intention of removing the ad. On YouTube, comments on the original ad are equally critical. One person wrote, "If someone feels that this commercial is taking it too far, then I commend them for setting a standard for themselves and their family...nothing wrong with that."
