Driver sought in fatal hit-and-run in DeKalb County

Posted: Updated:
DORAVILLE, Ga. -

DeKalb County police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who killed a Doraville woman on Monday morning.

Saquena Williams, 29, was struck as she walked on the Interstate 85 north access road at Northcrest Road. Police believe that she was walking for help after her vehicle ran out of gas.

Her brother, Phillip Williams is angry that the driver didn't call for help.

"Call 911, keep driving if you want to. I don't care about you -- call 911 so at least someone can help her while you are fleeing the scene," Phillip Williams said.

DeKalb County police believe a shoe found by a pastor not far from the scene is Williams' tennis shoe. Her body was found wedged between a fence and the concrete barricade.

The investigation has also revealed the 29-year-old was driving early Monday morning before the accident. Her brother wishes she would have called him.

"My sister is very, very independent. So, she wouldn't sit in the car waiting for someone to get her gas or anything like that," said Phillip Williams.

The victim's mother and sister live in California. The family wants whoever is responsible to be held accountable.

"I want this person to be caught. I don't care how," Williams said.

Anyone with information is asked to call DeKalb County police.
