Bikers show support for flag-waving McDonough business

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -

A group of veteran bikers gathered on Tuesday to thank a McDonough merchant who battled the city over a patriotic flag display.

Darren Miller proudly flies flags representing the military and the American flag at his restaurant, CJ's Hot Dogs on Highway.

FOX 5 reported that Miller was told by city officials that his flag display violated a city ordinance. Officials later backed off that citation, saying that it's not clear if the law applies to flags.

On Tuesday, some two dozen bikers who have served the country showed up to support Miller.

"We are patriotic Americans. That's why we are here. This is a brother that needed support and we came out to support him," said Lou Popp.

Miller was emotional by the rally.

"I actually teared up when talking to some of the guys and telling them thank you because these guys went over and fought the fight and I'm standing up for them," Miller said.

Miller said he's willing to go to City Hall and state why it's important for residents to see and feel his pride.
