FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A North Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison over 2012 gang-related gunfire into a car that left two people dead and two hurt.
Prosecutors in Fort Worth on Friday announced the penalty for 22-year-old Joe Sessums Jr.
A Tarrant County jury on Thursday convicted Sessums of capital murder in the May 2012 fatal shootings of Fabian Guerrero and Diane Guerra in Fort Worth.
Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty so Sessums received an automatic life prison term without possibility for parole.
Two co-defendants face trial later on capital murder charges in a case that investigators say involved an attack on a rival gang's vehicle.
