PHOENIX -- They met under extraordinary circumstances -- she was bleeding, her arm crushed in a car accident.  He was working and ran to her side to help.

There was definitely a lot of tears, a lot of hugs and a lot of gratitude.

71-year-old Joann Lang lost part of her arm in the crash, but she didn't lose her life and on Friday, she got to personally thank the young man who rushed to her side and used his belt to stop the bleeding and to save her.

The Good Samaritan and the grateful survivor reunited for the first time since the accident -- tears and memories overflowed.

Joann's left arm was pinned underneath her car in the crash.  She was bleeding pretty bad when Lucas Robinson came to her side.

"It was just a miracle because why would somebody out of the blue lay down in that mud and that blood and stick with me.. why?" said Joann.

Lucas not only stuck with her, he saved her life using his own belt.

He used it as a tourniquet, which stopped the bleeding.  He left after paramedics arrived, thinking the woman he just met wasn't going to live.

"When I came in here I was just thanking God I can see her again today," he said.

Joann wanted to give Lucas his life-saving belt back.  She also gave him a specially made quilt, but more importantly, she wanted to embrace the stranger who made it possible for her to keep living.

Lucas will continue saving lives.  He's joining the Army and leaves for basic training in a few months.

Joann spent eight days at John C. Lincoln Hospital, and as you saw, she's got a lot of energy and life left in her.  She went home from the hospital Friday.
