NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

An autistic teen from New Jersey has now been missing for almost one week and has no cell phone or credit cards on him. Family and police continue to chase every lead they get.

On Monday, police say someone claimed to have spotted Michael Karwan outside of a diner in the Chelsea section of Manhattan after seeing the teen's photo featured on FOX 5's morning show Good Day NY.

Last Tuesday night was the last confirmed sighting of the autistic teen from Marlboro. Monday's sighting was reported in the vicinity of 23rd St. and Ninth Ave.

Michael Karwan’s mom Teresa says she can't rest without her son.

Michael, who is 6 feet tall and was wearing a black coat, blue jeans and sneakers went out for a walk Tuesday afternoon, something that he often does but this time he never came back.

Five days have passed and temperatures have dropped dangerously.

“He didn't have a heavy jacket or gloves or a scarf” his mom said. "This is not a runaway situation where he planned it.”

"This is so out of the ordinary for him. He is very personable. He will respond to you," said Michael's father, Walter Karwan.

The family has followed leads that he tried to check into a Freehold hotel and that he may have boarded a bus to New York City and last night a team spent hours searching Times Square for him, but so far they have turned up no leads.

Teresa and a group of friends went looking for clues by the Freehold 7-11 on Sunday and combed through security footage to see whether Michael may have been in there buying a bus ticket but there was still no sign of him.

His mom says it is hard to continue but every tip gives her a shred of hope.
