Family Escapes Holiday Home Invasion After Church

Posted: Updated:

A Northeast Philadelphia family escapes a holiday home invasion after police say they were targeted by an armed robber who followed them home from church.

This happened at 12:30 a.m. Friday on the 2700 block of Springhouse Road.

A couple says they were returning from church with a 2-year-old child when the gunman approached, demanding cash and jewelry and forcing the man inside.

Police say the robber stole a $10,000 watch right off the victim's wrist.

But the victim's father, who was among other family members inside the home, managed to scare the gunman away.

FOX 29's Kelly Hessedal spoke to the family and has more details in this live report Friday morning from Northeast Philadelphia.
