UGA professor wins national teaching award

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - A University of Georgia professor has been named the recipient of a national education award that honors innovative teaching methods.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports UGA Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics Professor Michael Wetzstein was awarded with the National Teaching Award for Food and Agriculture Science earlier this month.

The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities honored Wetzstein with the award at its annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

Wetzstein has conducted research on several topics that have influenced policy and discussions among federal lawmakers.
