Study: Messy Children Also Learn Better

Next time your kids make a mess, don't get upset. They could be actually getting smarter!

A new study from the University of Iowa says that kids who do the most touching and tasting are better at learning and retaining words.

The study looked at 72 toddlers aged 16 months. Toddlers that made a mess learned the names of the 14 objects better.

And in another study, if you put a child in a familiar space, like a high-chair, they actually do better at naming objects. The authors say that this is because being in the high-chair is familiar to the kid, which leads them to explore and get messy.
