Phillies & Liberty USO Surprise Two Servicemen

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

We are still months away from cheering on the Phillies, but that's not stopping the Phils from helping to bring holiday cheer to those who serve our country.

The Liberty USO stuffed stockings for the military in the Phillies Clubhouse. Volunteers have stuffed hundreds of stockings that will be brought to our brave troops serving overseas.

In addition, the Phanatic, now dressed as Phanta Claus, brought a special surprise to two of our military heroes where were volunteering their time at the event. The prize was a free trip to Phillies Spring Training in Clearwater, Florida.

"There's never an off season for our fighting men and women," said Phillies Director of Public Affairs Scott Palmer.

"We want to turn the frowns upside down, and we think the surprise today delivered it," said Joe Brooks of the USO.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
