Dallas firefighters battled a fire near the Joule Hotel in downtown Dallas early Friday morning.
The fire began at about 3 a.m. in an electrical vault outside the hotel in the 1500 block of Main Street. Flames rose through a grate in the sidewalk.
Firefighters contained the fire to the vault. There was no damage to the hotel, but the popular restaurant CDB Provisions had minor glass and smoke damage to the exterior.
All guests were evacuated and moved to Magnolia Hotel.
Oncor had to shut off the power in the area so that firefighters could attack the blaze. Service was turned off in five blocks of southeast downtown that included City Hall.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
