Wreck on I-35 shuts down traffic, stranding trucks and drivers

Posted: Updated:

Part of I-35 Northbound in Denton County was shut down Saturday because of a wreck, leaving hundreds of truckers and drivers stranded in their vehicles for hours.

As a result, many motorists waited it out at a truck stop in Sanger. Additionally, Freedom Life Church in Sanger opened its doors to those stuck.

Gary Sweatman, the church's pastor, said that as of about 7:15 a.m. Saturday, about 100 travelers had stayed at the church.

Some church members took four wheelers to the backup to deliver water and food.
