Phoenix Police say a woman became violent after leaving her 1-year-old son outside a grocery store where she was shoplifting.

26-year-old Salina Payan allegedly took multiple items from a Fry's grocery store near 43rd Avenue and McDowell and hid them in shopping bags on Sunday.

According to police, Payan left her 1-year-old son outside of the store.

She fled the scene afterward, but was found by officers at a nearby apartment complex.

Police say Payan ignored commands from officers and flung her arms around while they were trying to handcuff her.

When they were finally able to handcuff her, Payan allegedly continued screaming and kicked a patrol car.

She faces charges of resisting arrest, shoplifting and child abuse.
