MYFOXNY.COM -

The Hour of Code campaign is aimed at kids and teenagers. The nationwide media blitz has united students, celebrities, athletes, and even the president.

It's all an effort to inspire kids to learn the tough task of computer coding. Entrepreneur and investor Hadi Partovi is the CEO of CODE.org. The company is urging school districts across the country to trade regular lessons for a one-hour lesson in writing computer code this week. He says learning basic code and computer science is important because it surrounds us and we need to learn how the world around us works.

The Hour of Code has the support of most major tech companies, which have publicly stated they need a stronger pipeline of engineers.

Lessons are taught through the company's website and include tutorials from tech giants like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg.
