President Obama Takes ‘Selfie’ At Mandela’s Funeral

Posted: Updated:

When President Obama attended Nelson Mandela's funeral Tuesday morning, he did not appear at the center of Twitter outrage. This was before the head of state landed in the hot seat for taking a ‘selfie' with other memorial service attendees.

Obama posed in the picture with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

It is not clear who owns the phone, but the president has said in the past that he does not own an Iphone.

First Lady Michelle Obama sat next to her husband and did not partake in the group photo. In the photo, she appears to be unimpressed.

The act taking cell-phone pictures at funerals has become popular over the past year.

When photographers snapped the photo of the president, #obamaselfie became a trending topic in the Twitterverse making the trend just as popular as #mandelamemorial.
