DART votes to get rid of paid parking program at several stations

Posted: Updated:

DART voted Tuesday night to get rid of its paid parking program at several stations.

Those stations include Parker Road, North Carrollton and Frankford beltline stations, and the northwest Plano Park & Ride.

DART will make a reserved parking area at the Parker Road station for DART service residents.

Currently, commuters who don't live within the agency's 13-member cities pay $2 a day to park at some stations.

DART realized residents of non-service area cities were just driving to other stations that were not charging, causing overflows.

The program ends April 2.
