The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas was closed most of the day Wednesday because of falling ice.
Dallas police blocked off both directions after getting reports about large chunks falling from the pillars and suspension wires about 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
The ice posed a threat to passing motorists and police opted to keep the bridge closed until all the ice was gone.
The bridge was reopened about 4 p.m. Wednesday, just as rush hour was underway in Dallas.
Drivers used the Commerce Street Bridge as an alternate route during the bridge's closure.
